And, Diwali is just round the corner!
This weekend everyone will be busy celebrating, cooking , baking and enjoying the festival of lights . This five-day festival is celebrated with complete zeal and enthusiasm.
In my last scoop I spoke about what is trending this Diwali and had promised to share the recipe too. So let me start with the fusion sweet first.
Choocolate Gujiya (Chocolate Cinnamon Gujiya)
A popular North Indian sweet of a crisp, flaky pastry filled with a sweet khoya and dry fruits stuffing is a must in every Diwali. Today I am sharing a twist to the traditional gujiya, a cross over made with Chocolate shells and filled with Gujiya mix enriched with grated coconut, Khoya, nuts and pinch of Cinnamon to enrich the aromas.

Ingredients For Filling
1 cup crumbled khoya/mawa also known as milk solids
1 teaspoon ghee also known as clarified butter
3 tablespoons coconut powder or grated coconut
3-4 tablespoons chocolate chips
4 tablespoons chopped roasted nuts i used a mix of cashews, pistachios and almonds
3-4 tablespoons granulated white sugar
1/4 teaspoon Cinnamon Powder
In a pan, heat 1 teaspoon of ghee. Add crumbled khoya/mawa to it and saute for a minute or two.
Add coconut powder/grated coconut and cook till fragrant, around 2-3 minutes. Remove pan from heat.
Add chopped nuts and mix. I added nuts which were already roasted, if you are using raw nuts you would need to roast them in ghee before adding them to the mixture.
Now wait for 2-3 minutes and while the mixture is still little warm (but not extremely warm) add cinnamon powder.
Let it rest and cool down completely
Ingredients for Chocolate Shells
Chocolate – 250 to 300 gms
Mould heart or any other shape.
Make sure you are working in Ac while tempering chocolate
Heat the chocolate in microwave or double boiler
Temper the chocolate and pour it in the shells of desired shape. Ensure that the corners and properly coated to avoid breakage.
Let it rest and set. Using a small spoon fill the shells with gujiaya filling and seal the shells using chocolate. Decorate using gold leaf or silver leaf and server .
