"It is never too late to be what you might have been."

“Success is no accident! It is hard work, perseverance, learning, studying, sacrifice and most of all, love of what you are doing.” – Nikita Shah
The roots of true achievement lie in the will to become the best that you can become. Home baker Nikita Shah truly embodies these words. She is the founder of CAKeify which sells fantastic, delicious cakes and specializes in whipped cream cakes.
An architect turned home baker, Nikita started her business almost five years ago. She has been a working professional previously and took up baking only after she shifted to her new house with her family. Soon she started getting orders from other people in her society and this motivated her to start her venture. She initially learnt to bake from her mother but later took up proper training in fondant cakes, wedding cakes and a lot of other advanced baking classes.
The first cake that Nikita baked was for her friend who really liked her work. She likes making whipped cream cakes the most as this is what her forte is. She says, “Most of the customers prefer these fresh cream cakes to fondant cakes. So a lot of them ask me to replicate the fondant designs onto the cream cakes. Being an architect, I find this quite easy.” She is also really good at painting on whipped cream cakes and has won a special prize for it.
As we all know, our life will always be full of hurdles and for Nikita, it was no different. She says, “My most challenging project till now has been a 7 kg cake that I had to make for a client who was a cyclist. It was a vertical cake and all architectural aspects came into that, right from the size of the figurine and mountain to measuring the areas.” Well, what an interesting project we say.
In the next five years, her goal is to expand her creativity. “I really want to bake for clients who want something different from the usual cakes. I love making unusual cakes and challenging myself, so I want to do something that reflects my art and creativity,” she says.
Sharing her experience working with Bulb and Key, Nikita says, “It is a really good platform for all the home bakers. Delivery is a huge concern for us most of the time but Bulb and Key makes it much easier. I also like the different things that they are coming up with on their app and all the projects they are undertaking. I find it very interesting.”
For all the budding bakers out there, practice and perseverance are two of the most important ingredients in the recipe of success, Nikita believes. “These days, whoever attends a workshop starts their own baking business, but I think that first they should practice a lot and put in the hard work before taking orders. Another aspect is the low prices that new home bakers quote, it is very disappointing and affects the industry. So this is also something that they should keep in mind.”
The discipline you learn and character you build from setting and achieving a goal can be more valuable than the achievement of the goal itself. – Nikita Shah
